Work Experience

I have worked as a freelance proofreader since 1999.

I specialize in proofreading documents which introduce my clients: resumes, proposals, applications for university, employment, and citizenship. The majority of my clients have been successful in their applications. I have worked on academic, corporate and private projects. My portfolio also includes articles, spreadsheets, and website copy.

I have extensive experience working with clients for whom English is a second language.

2005    Accepted: M.A. in Creative Writing, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand

The Creative Writing Master’s program at VUW’s International Institute of Modern Languages is supervised by Bill Manhire, New Zealand’s inaugural poet laureate. Only twenty students are selected each year.

Method

The first step is for me to get acquainted with your project. How do you envision the final product? Who will be reading it? Are there specific requirements (Canadian spelling, a particular academic format, etc)? I would be glad to discuss your project over email, phone, or in person.

You can email me the text which you would like to have edited. After I have looked at it, I will either send you the edited text for your review, or get in touch with you so that we can go through my suggested changes. For complex projects, I find that it is effective for us to look at your document together, whether in person or over the telephone, so that you have the opportunity to see the specific changes I have made, and I can explain my rationale for them. At all times, your suggestions are encouraged. Working together, we can create the product that is just right for you.
